What We Do

Erratic Animist is an eco-story telling studio based between New York and Berlin. We create immersive experiences that allow viewers to feel untold stories of overlooked perspectives, in a sensorial way. We collaborate with artists, natural history museums, poets, musicians and biologists and immersive technologies in order to create deeply felt stories.

Our Mission

We bring light to unseen energies- stories of nature which are often overlooked. Projects are focused on environmental stories of climate change, unheard voices, revitalizing species and conjuring cultures from the past. We have created immersive content ranging from reanimating the extinct Kauai’o’'o bird of Hawaii, to addressing climate change phobias of rising water levels.

Founder Jakob Kudsk Steensen has a background in contemporary art and digital environmental creation and strongly believes in a slow-media approach to re-connecting with our natural environment.

We engage in projects which are have the potential to spread untold stories and energies far and wide. Our team is run on a tentacular approach model in order to to meet specific design needs. We consist of passionate experts in media arts, science, sound, photogrammetry, 3D animation and immersive installations.
